觀點投書：問題是，怎麼讀經典？
「全國高中生人文經典閱讀會考」的討論仍持續熱烈。可是固然推動方是希望高中生閱讀經典，但其實反對方多數也並非認為高中生不適合讀。問題更在於怎麼讀。
根據競賽規則，整個計畫進行時間約七個月，七個月，十本經典，換句話說接觸一本經典的時間大約不到一個月。在這同時，高中生還需應付本就繁重的課業。此情況下很難避免囫圇吞棗的情形，甚至可能根本不是「閱讀」，而只是單純的把字啃完。換句話說，就只是又多了幾本課本。這對於培養接觸經典的興趣以及哲學思維，恐怕不是很適合的作法。
另一個問題在於師資。既然安排老師引導學生，就是期待在學生遇到困難時老師能協助解答。但是一個適合同時導讀尼采與《第三種猩猩》的老師，我想不是那麼容易找。這份書單跨越了太多領域，要找到能充分講解的老師會是非常困難的任務。
其實解方並不困難，就是將書單改成選讀。一份從早期社會主義、後結構、民族主義跨到科普的書單越過太多的知識領域；而領域間的”相容性”卻不見得很高。(筆者十分在意裡面有一個歹鬥陣的尼采)因此與其廣泛涉獵，倒不如集中在幾本、甚至一本建立更完整的認識。
例如筆者相對熟悉的《想像的共同體》，屬於民族主義中的「建構論」，那透過跟相對的「原初論」比較，會更容易突顯建構論的特質。同時也可以閱讀民族主義如何透過民族文學體現；香港學生所撰寫的《香港民族論》，書中也明顯援引安德森的想法。以《香港民族論》連結雨傘運動以及太陽花學運的「自己的國家自己救」，透過與時事的結合相信能讓學生更有興趣。
當然，這樣做的困難點就會在：最後的會考如何進行。但既是哲學會考，最理想的考題應該是:無論閱讀了那一本，都能夠根據該本經典所代表的思想脈絡進行回答，而無須全部讀完。這樣才是對思辨能力的考驗。的確，這樣的題目並不好出；但也可採取折衷的作法，例如讓學生在多題中自選數題回答，出題難度就可以降低許多。
筆者其實很肯定推動經典閱讀的美意，但推動方式其實可以再多考量；的確現在學生在手機、電腦等載體的競爭下，看書，尤其是厚重書的習慣減少。可是，當他們有興趣的時候，還是會自行去閱讀。例如在PTT的布袋戲討論版，由於劇情相關，很多觀眾開始討論《山海經》，更前一段時間則在討論佛教典故。早年動畫《新世紀福音戰士》風行時，也曾興起過對聖經的討論與精神分析學派的討論。
透過適當的輔助教材引起高中生對某些經典的興趣，比廣泛閱讀的效果應會更好。好的輔助教材並不好找，要好讀又要有深意。但或許正可藉由此一計畫的推動，去挖掘出更多的可用教材:包括二手詮釋、小說、電影甚至動漫；累積成為資料庫，這對於鼓勵高中生的人文素養與思辨能力相信會有更長遠的幫助。
